Voice typing for people who think in two languages.

Mix Russian and English mid-sentence — Verbatype keeps up. Dictate offline on iPhone and Mac. Edit in a keyboard that holds both alphabets, no layout switching.

The problem

Say this out loud: «Запушь hotfix в staging и проверь logs».

That is one ordinary sentence for a bilingual engineer. Most dictation apps pick one language for the whole recording. They either mangle the English terms into Cyrillic phonetics, or drop the Russian entirely and guess at English words that were never said. You end up dictating in fragments and fixing the same words every time.

How it works

Speech recognition runs on your device first.

  1. 1

    On-device transcription

Verbatype transcribes on your iPhone or Mac, so it keeps working without a network connection. No audio has to leave the device for you to get text.

  2. 2

    Optional cloud refinement

When you're online, a cloud pass can refine punctuation and phrasing. It's an enhancement layer on top of the on-device result, not a requirement for dictation to work.

  3. 3

    iPhone and Mac, one keyboard

A custom keyboard on iOS carries both alphabets at once, so you dictate and correct text without switching your system keyboard layout mid-thought.

Why it's different

Three things Verbatype does that generic dictation apps don't.

Mid-sentence code-switching

Say a sentence that moves between Russian and English mid-thought, technical terms included, and Verbatype follows it as one utterance — not two separate recordings in two separate modes.

Offline on iPhone and Mac

Dictation runs on-device on both platforms. Without a network connection, quality can vary versus the cloud-refined pass — but you always get a result. Cloud-only apps give you nothing when you're offline.

Both alphabets, one keyboard

The iOS keyboard holds Cyrillic and Latin letters at the same time. Dictate, then edit by hand, without switching your system layout back and forth.

Where we're going

What we're building next.

  • Personalized model adaptation (in development). On-device model adaptation tuned to your own voice and vocabulary, validated in internal experiments. Not shipped yet — this is roadmap, not a current feature.
  • More language pairs. Russian/English is the first pair. Additional bilingual pairs are planned after launch.
  • TestFlight beta soon. The waitlist is how we invite the first testers.

Plans

Pricing will be announced at launch.

Free

A bounded amount of full functionality, cloud refinement included. After that, on-device dictation keeps working, unlimited, at no cost — it never hard-blocks you.

Subscription

Includes unbounded use of the cloud refinement pass, on us — no API keys to manage.

Bring your own key

A one-time purchase. Use your own API keys for cloud refinement, stored only on your device.
